That's not the Disney Dream I grew up with...
It's time for one-trick-pony-number-two. Disney, what have you done. To put it bluntly, nothing new except pushing a new Beyoncé song and making a remake 30 minutes longer without any new relevant content.

During the film I was severely distracted by a couple of things:

1. There's nothing new except the reason why Nala appears in the jungle. In the original it was because she was searching for food because the lioness' were starving. In this version she is looking for help. What help? Did she think any other animal was going to help a carnivore? Especially a hunting carnivore. Yeah sure eat my friend first and then we're going to help rescue your land. Wtf. This sounds very fabricated and I don't get why they changed it but whatever.

2. The animals have next to no mimic. While I sobbed while watching the old version, this one made me feel nothing much. I guess that's how psychopaths feel when they should show compassion...

3. The animals lack any genitals. While I get that you don't want to shove lion dicks and balls into children's faces, it makes this otherwise very realistic display of animals unrealistic. I imagine the shock kids go threw when they visit the zoo next time... "Daddy, what does Simba have between his legs?" I mean come on... If you want to show realistic animals, show them how they really are. You don't have to make them jump each other and teach the children how little Simbas are made but... Don't confuse the kids more than you already do by making them talk.

4. The only new thing is Beyoncé's song, right? I mean everything else (dialog, score, songs) is the exact same only with different voices, right? Don't get me wrong I love Hans Zimmer, that man can compose..., but to just use everything again seems rather lazy and uninspired.

I drew a short comparison to Aladdin in my head and was surprised that this version of the Lion King was actually better because... There were no actors who could screw it up (either by unconvincing performance or pushy songs - yes I'm looking at you Jasmin...). But still... I know Disney is probably exploiting this whole CGI/real actor stuff because not many people would come to the cinemas to watch the old ones.... But, Disney, could you maybe stop slaughtering the good old ones? How about sequels in CGI or whatever? Do you really have to diminish your perfectly good, loved, not CGI infested original films? Would be much appreciated.
