Too many bad habits...but there's some hope.
"A Quiet Place" definitely made me emotional while watching it but these emotions have dissipated as soon as I left the cinema. This is probably because they were built on superficial tricks of the trade that will not leave a long lasting mark on the viewer.

There is way too many jump scares that are absolutely unnecessary. The film does not need the sharp loud sounds as those moments are already suspenseful enough. It was annoying.
Most of the acting performances are good, Emily Blunt's sticks out. The creatures are really nice, until their design gets too elaborate, resulting in the loss of the uncanny. However, their first appearances are trully scary. The movie also has some great camera moments (I love the old man's face stretching and contorting before he erupts in scream).

I absolutely love the idea that there is little dialogue in the entire movie but I was disappointed by the apparent conscious decision to keep this movie mainstream: "there’s a threshold that you can push people, and what I wanted to do is make sure that people had some familiarity with movies from before, so it didn’t feel like an experiment" (Krasinski for IGN).
I believe that Krasinski was too careful. That is of course, his choice, but for me the result is mediocre and the movie suffers because of it. He also rewrote the original script which makes me wonder if the original was better or worse than the finished movie.

I cannot really recommend you watch this movie in the cinema (I was happy our tickets were "free" because we collected enough points at the UCI.). Plus, you are less likely to be distracted by pop corn eaters and chit chatters (our screening was fine, but I have read horror stories online ;) ).
